Light fingers make many things work…
The Bowen Technique is a very unique, gentle, safe and non-invasive approach to a remedial and holistic therapy, even so the remedial technique can also be powerful in it’s ability to prompt the body’s ability to bring about change, given the right conditions to re-balance, re-align and heal itself.
The treatments affect the physical, emotional, chemical and visceral aspects of the body’s systems, making it a truly holistic therapy.
Subtle rolling type movements are made with thumbs and fingers across specific areas of muscle, tendons and ligaments, there is no manipulation or force and because it’s such a gentle soft tissue technique, it can be applied to treat anyone from newborn babies to the elderly and all ages in-between and because it is a holistic therapy, the whole person is treated, not just simply the area that hurts.
The theory is that the movements generate a release in the underlying soft tissues and structures of the body and also prompt the brain and nervous system to question what is happening in that area of the body, thus bringing the body’s ability to heal to the fore.
Physiotherapy and Sports Injury is a field of remedial therapy that is becoming increasingly aware of the benefits of Bowen. Sports enthusiasts and professionals, have reported an increase in performance whilst also reducing their risk and incidence of injury.
Ideally treatments are spaced 7-10 days apart and due to the unique and gentle nature of the therapy, it is suggested that other physical therapies are avoided during the span of Bowen treatments to allow the body to implement any changes.
